Current Studies
I am currently enrolled in a M.S. Counseling Psychology program. Why counseling? The American Psychological
Association places vocational psychology within its Division 17: Society for Counseling Psychology. Vocational psychology
relates primarily to the individual, rather than the employing organization. This is why vocational psychology is part of
counseling rather than industrial/organizational psychology.
After my master-level coursework and practicum are completed, I will be applying for doctoral studies
in vocational psychology or a related field.
Interests
Professionally, I bounce around with varied interests. As one line of research opens new doors, I find myself
becoming intrigued with possibilities revealed.
There are some general professional interests that have remained fairly constant, however. These include the
following:
* Process of making vocational choices
* Person-environment fit
* Personality and vocational assessment
* Career counseling techniques
* Vocational theory
* Vocational satisfaction
* Impact of variables on workplace performance
* Life/work identity development
* Spirituality in the workplace
* Vocation as calling or lifestyle, rather than activity
* Effect of natural settings on vocational stress levels
* Worksite accomidations for disabled employees and employees with learning disabilities/ADHD
